SilvaTerra carries out studies on wild plant resources and helps to source plant materials for the purpose of research and product development.

We provide a service that supports external institutions coordinate the work with Malawian counterparts such as the Forest Research Institute of Malawi (FRIM), the National Herbarium and Botanical Gardens, The Environmental Affairs Department, or the National Commission for Science and Technology. This is necessary to legally access genetic resources in Malawi for the purpose of research and development.

We coordinate the implementation of a national inventory on baobab and carried out socio-economic studies on natural products trade. In this way, SilvaTerra acts as a consulting partner for outside institutions with a special focus on wild plant products. The cooperation with technical staff of the National Herbarium and Botanical Gardens, FRIM, and the Department of Environment allows ???

We will also help source plant materials as genetic resources for research and development projects. This includes coordinate the ‘access and benefit sharing’ arrangements and ‘material transfer’ agreements in partnership with other institutions.
